What The Bombay Cats is
The Bombay Cats is a free community board for stray and rescued cats in Mumbai. We don't own, house, sell or guarantee any cat listed here. We don't take part in adoptions: they are arranged directly between the people involved. Using the site means you agree to these terms.
Your account
- You need an account to list a cat or message someone. One account per person.
- Keep your sign-in details private. You're responsible for what's done with your account.
- You must be 18 or older, or use the site with a parent or guardian.
Listing a cat
- No sales. Listings must not sell a cat or ask for money, including "rehoming fees".
- Only list cats you're caring for or have permission to rehome, and describe them honestly, including health, vaccination and temperament.
- Use your own photos. Don't post anyone's exact address, phone number or other personal details.
- Mark a cat as adopted once it has found a home.
- Each person can have up to 2 active listings. Every listing is reviewed before it goes live.
Messaging and adopting
- Only contact posters about adopting or helping their cat. No spam, advertising or harassment.
- Your name, email and message are shared with the person you contact, so they can reply.
- Meet in safe places, take your time, and consider a vet check and a home visit. Please net windows and balconies before bringing a cat home.
What's not allowed
- Selling animals, or fake, misleading or duplicate listings
- Abusive, hateful, sexual or needlessly graphic content
- Scraping the site, collecting other users' details, or trying to get around our security or limits
Moderation
We may review, hide, edit or remove any listing or message, and suspend accounts that break these terms. Listings reported by several people are hidden until we review them. If you see something wrong, use "Report this listing".
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and words you post. You give us permission to show them on the site and to share them to help the cat find a home, for example on WhatsApp or social media. You confirm you have the right to post them.
No guarantees
The site is provided as it is. We can't check every listing or every person, and we aren't responsible for the health or behaviour of any animal, or for arrangements made between users. As far as the law allows, The Bombay Cats is not liable for any loss or harm arising from using the site or from an adoption arranged through it.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms. If we do, we'll update the date at the top. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Mumbai have jurisdiction. Questions? Email meow@thebombaycats.com.
